    The Challenge

Emergency departments operate under extreme time pressure with patients arriving continuously at unpredictable rates. Medical staff must rapidly assess severity, allocate resources, and coordinate with multiple treatment teams – all while managing the cognitive load of life-or-death decisions.

Traditional triage relies on human judgment alone, which can vary between shifts and under stress. Peter was developed to provide consistent, protocol-driven triage support that augments clinical expertise without replacing it.

    02

    Our Solution

Peter is a CNEXT AI Labs concept for emergency triage assistance built on Microsoft Copilot Studio and Azure OpenAI. The agent ingests patient vital signs, symptoms, medical history, and chief complaints in real time through integration with hospital information systems.

It cross-references Swiss Triage protocols and generates structured prioritization recommendations with confidence scores. Peter presents clear, actionable guidance to triage nurses through a dashboard interface, flags high-risk cases for immediate escalation, and documents every decision for quality assurance and training.

    03

    The Result

In pilot simulations, initial triage assessment accelerated by an average of 4 minutes. Information flow between triage and treatment teams became clearer and more structured.

Staff reported feeling more confident in high-pressure situations with protocol-driven backup. Peter is positioned as a decision-support tool that enhances clinical judgment rather than replacing it – a model for responsible AI deployment in healthcare.
