The Challenge
Inselspital operates a massive SharePoint intranet with hundreds of pages for over 40 clinics, institutes, and administrative departments.
With over 11,000 employees, SharePoint's standard navigation was completely inadequate: users got lost in deep hierarchies, couldn't find relevant content, and search alone wasn't sufficient for daily work.
IT wanted an intuitive, visual navigation that also works on mobile.

Our Solution
We developed and deployed two custom SPFx webparts: (1) an enhanced treeview component for hierarchical navigation with collapsible categories, search filters, and a favorites function. (2) Dynamic breadcrumbs that always clearly show the current location in the page hierarchy and enable direct jumps to parent areas. Both webparts are responsive and work on desktop and mobile.

The Result
Employees now navigate intuitively through Inselspital's complex intranet structures. The time to find content has been cut in half.
User satisfaction with the intranet has measurably improved – navigation is actively cited as a success factor. The solution is stable in production and scales with growing page counts.
